If there’s one thing I’ve learned from trying different side hustles, it’s this: consistency beats intensity every time.
Most of us (at least if you’re anything like me) start new projects full of motivation: posting nonstop for a week, working late nights, and feeling like this is finally the one. Then life happens, things get busy and suddenly we’re taking a quick break that turns into weeks…or months. Or the lack of immediate success is discouraging and you give up altogether.
Sound familiar?
I’ve been there more times than I can count. But every time I get back into a consistent rhythm, I notice the same thing – my reach, engagement and income all start to grow again. It’s not about working harder. It’s about showing up regularly enough to let things build.
Why Consistency Matters More Than Big Effort
When it comes to side hustles, consistency does what random bursts of effort can’t. It builds trust, signals reliability to algorithms and helps you improve faster.
1. Social platforms reward consistency
If you’ve ever wondered why your reach dips when you take a break, that’s why.
Platforms like Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube love creators who post regularly. Consistency tells the algorithm you’re reliable, which keeps your content circulating longer.
You don’t have to post all day, every day. You just need to post often enough for your audience and the platform to remember you.
2. Consistency compounds your results
Every post, pin, or video adds to your foundation. When you post sporadically, each one starts from zero. But when you post consistently, the momentum from your previous content carries forward, your old posts still work for you while you’re adding new ones. In fact sometimes old posts take off weeks later.
3. Consistency helps you learn faster
Every piece of content gives you feedback. The more often you create, the faster you learn what works (and what doesn’t). Over time, that feedback helps you work smarter not harder.
Want to see the proof?
Of course you do! Here are some of my analytics from various platforms, showing the importance of consistency, or at least a greater focus
YouTube Growth Comparison
Compare the stats from two of my YouTube channels. The icons at the bottom show when content was posted (square is a video, S shape is a short. I am more active and somewhat consistent with the bottom channel, helping it to grow and get monetized.

I have one monetized Facebook that I post on almost daily, multiple times a day. I have only missed a couple of days in the past few months. Check out my follower count stats!

Consistency and Affiliate Marketing Go Hand-in-Hand
Affiliate marketing is one of those side hustles that rewards patience and steady effort.
The more consistently you share your links or content, the more chances people have to find them.
Here’s what I’ve seen in my own experience:
- Traffic grows when I post regularly.
- Sales happen more often when I stay visible.
- And the content I made weeks (or even months) ago keeps earning when I stay active.
Consistency builds trust with your audience and gives your content time to do its job. It’s not instant, but it’s absolutely worth it.
Introducing the 30-Day Consistency Challenge
I wanted to take this idea a step further not just talk about consistency, but actually track what happens when I commit to it.
So I’m doing a 30-Day Consistency Challenge and I’d love for you to join me.
This isn’t a “work until you burn out” challenge.
It’s about proving to ourselves that small, daily actions can create big changes when we stick with them.
The goal is simple: focus on one side hustle for 30 days and do one thing for it every single day.
The Challenge Rules
The Goal:
Pick one area of focus and stick with it for 30 days.
The Rules:
- Choose one thing to focus on.
- Do one small task every day that supports that hustle.
- Track your progress weekly.
- If you miss a day, don’t quit! Just pick up where you left off.
- Keep it simple and doable.
Some ideas for what to work on:
- Create and post one affiliate Pinterest pin per day
- Share one affiliate link on social media
- Upload one short-form video (TikTok, YouTube Shorts, etc.)
- List one new product on Etsy or eBay
- Write one paragraph for a blog post
The point isn’t to do more, it’s to build rhythm and see how consistent effort affects your results.
What I’m Doing for My 30 Days
For my challenge, I’ll be sharing one new Pinterest pin every day that links to my Amazon Influencer Storefront.
If you want to know all about how I do that, check out my post “Make Passive Income with Amazon Affiliate on Pinterest” or grab the step-by-step guide book and get signed up for the monthly newsletter!
Here’s how I set it up:
- I set up a page in my journal with a 30-day tracker and wrote my starting stats for both Pinterest and Amazon so I can check for growth.
- I printed a blank calendar to fill in my content plan for the 30 days to get organized and not waste time brainstorming pin ideas everyday.
- I asked ChatGPT to help me come up with 30 Pinterest ideas in my niche that are relevant for the fall, winter and holidays.

My goal is to see how daily posting affects both my Pinterest analytics and my affiliate income, since I have noticed a correlation in the past. I’ll be sharing the results in December’s newsletter, so make sure you are subscribed!
I started the challenge on November 5th, and here are my stats for the past week, where you can see exactly when I started:

Before beginning this consistency experiment, I hadn’t posted on this Pinterest account in months. Within two days of posting regularly, my stats are on the rise and I expect my Amazon income to follow suit within the next week.
How You Can Join In
You can start anytime, it doesn’t have to be a Monday or the 1st of the month. In fact, start today when you finish with this post! I always remember that quote “tomorrow you will wish you started today” when I feel like procrastinating. Most of the time, it helps.
Here’s how to set up your own version:
- Pick one hustle or platform to focus on
- Write down your starting stats (views, clicks, sales, followers, etc.)
- Make a simple tracker: a spreadsheet, a notebook, a printed calendar or whatever works best for you
- Do one task a day for 30 days
- Track your progress and see what changes by the end
If you’re a paper lover like me, this is where I get my blank printable calendars that I use for all of my content planning.
If you want to stay accountable, follow my new Facebook page. It will be a great place for us to connect and to grow a community of like minded side hustlers.

What You’ll Learn From This
By the end of 30 days, you’ll have:
- Real data showing how consistency affects your reach and income.
- A better understanding of what works for your niche.
- A repeatable system you can use anytime you want to boost momentum.
- And, most importantly, confidence. Because you’ll see proof that small daily actions really do pay off.
Final Thoughts
Consistency doesn’t always look exciting, but it’s what actually moves the needle.
Posting once in a while creates random results. Posting on a schedule creates progress you can see.
You don’t have to post every day forever. But this challenge can help you find your rhythm, build a system that works and start 2026 already in motion instead of waiting for January to start something new.
So, what do you think? Ready to test what 30 days of consistency can do?
